Every litre of water that evaporates, takes with it theheat energy used to warm it, making the heatingsystem work harder to maintain the desired temperature. A good-quality poolcover can cut evaporation by around 90–95%, preventing unnecessary energy lossand conservation of water.
Beyond heat retention, using a cover reduces dehumidification and running costs. With an uncovered pool the evaporation increasesindoor humidity, therefore when comparing a covered pool, this would consumeless electricity. A cover reduces themoisture volume in the air, meaning less demandon ventilation/heat recovery equipment and decreasingenergy bills. Additionally, by decreasing evaporation, pool covers help chemicalslike chlorine last longer, leading to lesschemical usage and costs.
Airstream Technologies AS range of units have a pool coveredmode integrated into our control strategy, this means if you have an automaticcover (or switch for manual cover) installed the unit will automatically rampdown to maintain a reduced air temperature. When the pool is uncovered the poolventilation unit will increase back to the desired pool hall air temperature tocompensate the humidity.
